This two-hour training is designed for school custodians, building owners, property managers, or interested personnel in facilities containing asbestos. AHERA Asbestos Worker: initial training [32 hr]
This four-day training, approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, is mandatory for any workers removing asbestos in schools and all personnel involved in asbestos-related activities in public and commercial buildings. Course curriculum includes: history of asbestos; health effects; medical surveillance; federal/state/local regulatory compliance; respiratory and personal protection; state-of-the-art work practices and procedures, and "hands-on” training.

Approved by the EPA, this three-day instruction is designed for persons who perform asbestos building inspections; take samples of suspect materials, and determine material conditions; surveillance; respiratory and personal protection; regulatory compliance; asbestos identification; assessment of suspect material condition; sampling techniques and procedures for report generation.

AHERA Asbestos Management Planner: initial training [16 hr]                                                   (Pre-requisite: A-200 Building Inspector) Certification is required for persons responsible for development of management plans for asbestos in buildings. Course syllabus covers: interpretation /evaluation of asbestos inspection results; hazard assessment determination; selection of response actions; cost estimation and financing operations; public relations and development of operations & maintenance (O&M) programs.

AHERA Asbestos Contractor Supervisor: initial training [40 hr]
This EPA-approved five-day class is intended for supervisory personnel who direct asbestos abatement projects. The curriculum meets EPA/AHERA requirements as well as the National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAPS) and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101/1910.1001. Contractor/Supervisor trainees receive all subject matter offered in the Worker course in addition to instruction on supervisory techniques; contract specifications; legal considerations; insurance types; coverage limitations and bonding.

AHERA Asbestos Project Designer: initial [24 hr]
This 3-day course, accredited by EPA, is offered in Arizona exclusively through ETC. The class provides an asbestos abatement project overview from the standpoint of: design concepts; preparation of contract and project specifications; cost estimation considerations and compliance with Federal and Regional regulations.

Under federal regulations, this training is mandatory for all school maintenance, and janitorial personnel if involved with maintenance activities. Hazardous Materials Worker: HAZWOPER initial training [40 hr]
Intended for site workers; operators; handlers; personnel at treatment/storage /disposal facilities; and others needing to comply with OSHA initial 40-hour training requirements. HAZWOPER provides knowledge skills necessary to assist with remedial operations surrounding a hazardous materials incident and utilizes a combination of classroom presentation and "hands-on" field exercises. Course syllabus covers: hazardous materials recognition; toxicology; medical surveillance; chemical hazards; respiratory and personal protection; monitoring equipment and procedures; regulatory compliance (OSHA, SARA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT); confined space entry; operational zone determination; spill control engineering and decontamination.

This one-day course meets HAZWOPER training requirements  (OSHA 1910.120 (q)(6)(i)]. All employees who may witness or could become involved in a chemical spill or release of hazardous materials should attend.

Permit Entry Confined Space Training [16 hr]
This 16hr course offers students topics such as identifying permit-required confined spaces and their hazards; the proper utilization of gas monitoring equipment; methods used to safely ventilate a confined space; the duties of supervisors, entrants, and attendants; requirements for rescue services & personnel and the steps necessary to temporarily reclassify a permit-required confined space to a non-permit space. Students must attend both days.

Competent person training is required for contractors involved in excavations to implement proper engineering controls to prevent trench collapse and cave-ins. This course covers all aspects of excavation safety including excavation definitions, review of OSHA requirements, daily inspections, shoring system design requirements, safety aspects of excavation equipment, special work rules for high hazards, and confined space requirements.

Respiratory Protection [40 hr]
This is an in-depth course for respiratory protection examining the history and applicable rules and regulations surrounding respirators, including all elements needed for a respiratory protection program.  All types of air purifying and supplied air respirators, including the SCBA, will be discussed and demonstrated. Fit testing will also be covered for qualitative and quantitative methods, including “how-to” exercises. The course is taught by Certified Industrial Hygienists.

Designed to fulfill training on the need, selection, use, and care of employee respiratory protection under the new OSHA Standard Effective April, 1998. Includes a qualitative fit-test of student respiratory equipment and online medical evaluation with certificate (optional).
