Nelson, REA, Joins Northern California Practice Santa Rosa, CA– SCS Engineers (SCS) is pleased to announce the addition of Christopher A. Nelson, REA, as a Project Manager in our Northern California practice; he will be based in Santa Rosa. Mr. Nelson brings 18 years of professional experience solving environmental problems for real estate developers to SCS’s voluntary remediation and Brownfields practice, called “SCS Secure.” He will assist real estate developers, lenders, and municipalities in successfully overcoming environmental challenges that might otherwise impede smart growth and sustainable redevelopment. SCS Secure offers integrated real estate, site renewal, and risk transfer solutions. Mr. Nelson has conducted many Brownfields cleanup projects and has evaluated a multitude of other properties for Brownfields redevelopment potential throughout the United States. In fact, his extensive experience has included Brownfield property acquisitions, due diligence studies, project management, consultant and contractor oversight, regulatory agency negotiations, site development planning, entitlements, pro forma development and cost estimating for environmental liabilities. In addition, Mr. Nelson has considerable experience working on properties regulated under CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Water Act and numerous other federal and state environmental and hazardous waste cleanup laws. He has assessed, evaluated, conducted field work, prepared site planning and cleanup documents, and recommended appropriate cleanup alternatives for hundreds of sites. Mr. Nelson has a BS degree in Environmental Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Registered Environmental Assessor (REA I) through the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and Cal EPA/DTSC. Mr. Nelson holds a California real estate license and is currently pursuing his real estate broker license. He is affiliated with the Urban Land Institute, San Francisco District Council.
