Tom Gilardi, SCS Engineers, Becomes a LEED Accredited Professional

Reston, VA - SCS Engineers (SCS) is pleased to announce that Thomas E. Gilardi, P.E., of our Reston, Virginia, office, has become a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).  Mr. Gilardi has devoted his distinguished 20-year career to the fields of environmental remediation and government contracting as a civil engineer and program manager.  Mr. Gilardi is SCS's East Coast Federal Program Manager.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™establishes a suite of standards to foster sustainable green building and development practices.  The US Green Building Council is the non-profit organization that developed this nationally recognized certification program.  SCS is a member of the US Green Building Council.

LEED APs have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.  LEED APs facilitate the integrated design process and streamline LEED certification of buildings and infrastructure projects. 

Building owners can realize both environmental and financial benefits when their projects earn LEED certification.  SCS assists clients in obtaining LEED certification in the following certification credit areas:

• Brownfield redevelopment
• On-site renewable energy (e.g., use of landfill gas)

• Storage and collection of recyclables by building tenants
