FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 17 , 2009 Contact: Jeffrey M. Harris, P.E., Joins the Houston Office of SCS Engineers Houston, TX - SCS Engineers is pleased to announce that Jeffrey M. Harris, P.E., BCEE, has joined SCS’s Houston office. Mr. Harris recently served as the Engineering Manager for Waste Management’s numerous landfills in southeast Texas, where he managed engineering and construction budgets in excess of $15 million per year. His career also includes service as a corporate director of engineering for both Waste Management and Browning-Ferris Industries. In addition to his extensive experience with all aspects of solid waste engineering, his 30 years of engineering practice have encompassed the development of innovative technologies such as bioreactor landfills, wetlands mitigation, evapotranspiration covers, and remediating pesticide-contaminated Brownfields. Mr. Harris has supervised a group of up to 15 professional and administrative personnel, including civil, geotechnical, chemical, environmental, air pollution, electrical and industrial engineers, architects, geologists, and other scientists. Mr. Harris’s experience also includes several international assignments, including design review for hazardous liquid treatment plants in Argentina; performance of design calculations for surface water management in Hong Kong; and preparation of permit drawings and supporting documentation for landfills in Malaysia and New Zealand. Mr. Harris earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in Civil Engineering and he has taken Post Graduate Studies at the University of Northern Colorado. Mr. Harris holds a U.S. patent for a Facultative Landfill Bioreactor. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, a Board Certified Environmental Engineer by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
