FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ray Dever, Vice President and Office Director of SCS Engineers-Tampa, Receives 2009 Distinguished Individual Achievement Award from SWANA's Landfill Management Division Savannah, Georgia – Raymond J. Dever, PE (Professional Engineer), BCEE (Board Certified Environmental Engineer), has been awarded the 2009 Distinguished Individual Achievement Award from the Landfill Management Division of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). The award was presented to him at the 14th Annual SWANA Landfill Management Symposium on June 2, 2009, in Savannah, GA. Mr. Dever has been with SCS Engineers (SCS) for over 13 years, currently serving as Vice President and Tampa Office Director with responsibility for the firm’s projects throughout Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. In over 30 years of professional experience, he has completed hundreds of solid waste, hazardous waste, environmental assessment, water resources, wastewater treatment, and regulatory compliance assignments throughout the eastern United States. Mr. Dever is recognized as an expert in solid waste landfills and related areas, as exemplified by his stint as Director of SWANA’s Landfill Management Division and his numerous expert witness testimonies in litigation and mediation of landfill-related matters. Mr. Dever has participated in and/or directed many facility planning, design, permitting, and construction projects. Solid waste projects have involved landfill expansions, landfill closures, landfill gas collection and control systems, leachate treatment plants, material recovery facilities, and transfer stations. He has been responsible for major environmental assessment projects including federal environmental impact statements (EIS) under NEPA. Mr. Dever earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Brown University, a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Engineering degree from Princeton University in Civil Engineering/Water Resources.
