 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. Mayes is a certified professional geologist and has over 14 years experience in the environmental consulting industry providing project management, technical consulting, field supervision and coordination of project activities.  Mr. Mayes has extensive experience with field and site evaluation, field supervision and the handling of the typical and unique environmental problems.  Environmental projects have included management of major asbestos management projects, indoor air quality services, environmental remediation and hazardous waste cleanups, PST risk assessments, VCP assessments, drilling of monitoring wells, removal of underground storage tanks, environmental compliance audits, and environmental site assessments. Further experience:

  • Managed investigation and monitoring activities at the manufacturing facility in Ft. Worth , Texas for solvent contamination associated with former operations. Remediation project management requiring pilot testing, regulatory agency coordination, equipment removal/installation management, remediation management and construction oversight.  The successful completion of this work required familiarity with all EPA and TNRCC regulations for hazardous waste handling and disposal.

  • Multi-site and multi-phased environmental real property assessments and compliance audits to facilitate real estate transfers or characterize and remediate known environmental concerns.  Clients include industry, utility and financial companies.

  • Underground storage tank project management requiring equipment removal/retrofit management, auditing for regulatory compliance, site assessment and characterization, remediation management and construction oversight.  The successful completion of this work requires knowledge with all EPA and TNRCC/LPST management and correction action requirements and protocol.

  • Subsurface investigations for contamination assessments involving soil and groundwater for a variety of industrial and commercial sites, including risk-based closure (per TNRCC Rules), and enrollment and achievement of closure for projects under the TNRCC Voluntary Cleanup Program, and TNRCC Innocent Owner/Operator Program.

  • Coordinated and supervised performance of sediment and effluent sampling for the City of Dallas at the White Rock Lake Dredging Project, in Dallas , Texas .  This project included onsite lake sampling/analysis as well as sampling of effluent at the discharge point in Hutchins , Texas .  This high profile project was completed approximately three months ahead of schedule.  

  • Performance of environmental site assessments utilizing ASTM standards for commercial real estate environmental site assessments.

  • Asbestos project management, abatement project design, consulting and third party management.

  • Supervision and performance of Indoor Air Quality Services for several school districts and municipalities.

  • General consulting for hazardous materials/special waste management and disposal, compliance auditing and data evaluation.
