permit the closure construction was conducted including the
certification of the construction process.
-
Conducted an internal siting study to determine the
location of the County’s secure landfill. Developed a siting permit and
worked to design and construct the first double-lined landfill in North
Carolina with leachate collection and treatment. Also, developed an
internal comprehensive approach to solid waste management, including
landfill incineration and recycling.
-
Project Manager for the development of an end-use
plan for the closed County landfill. A concept golf course layout,
preliminary plans, and feasibility study were prepared. A second land
use concept was the development of a greenhouse project utilizing
landfill gas for temperature control in the facility. A grading permit
was obtained for this project, however, the funding was not provided.
-
Ground/Surface Water Monitoring: Project Manager on
a multi-year surface and groundwater-monitoring program at the County’s
old and new landfill facilities. Sampling and testing of the groundwater
