Meet SCS professionals John Henkelman, Cassie Drotman, and Ray Huff who will be participating in the Air & Waste Management Association’s (AWMA) Climate Change Conference, “Finding Common Ground on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation,” to be held in metro Washington, DC, October 10-11, 2017
This international conference on climate change mitigation and adaptation will provide a neutral forum to address emerging policies and technologies for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions and mitigation along with estimating climate change impacts and adaptation strategies. Plenary Panels discussing Climate Action, Resilience, and Climate Communication are in the works. A Plenary Session on Oil & Gas Sector Methane Emissions is also being planned.
The conference is convened as a neutral science-based forum for addressing climate change related issues such as:
- Methodologies for identifying and estimating climate change risks and impacts
- Strategies and technologies for reducing emissions of greenhouse gasses (GHGs) and other climate-changing pollutants
- Practices for increasing the resiliency of communities and facilities to the changing climate.
The conference will engage with the new leadership on Capitol Hill and the Administration to explore policy measures and recommend approaches for making meaningful progress.
In addition to the keynote addresses and technical sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Goddard is one of the preeminent NASA Mission to Planet Earth facilities developing and validating climate change models. The tour includes transportation to and from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and a guided tour of the facility including a lecture at the Goddard Earth Science Hyperwall.
