Aaron Gilman, SCS Field Services – Construction, Receives Special Governor’s Award from NSWMA

Reston, VA – Aaron Gilman of SCS Field Services – Construction received the National Solid Wastes Management Association’s (NSWMA) Special Governor’s Award for his years of service to NSWMA on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

Washington, D.C.-based NSWMA is the trade association representing private disposal companies throughout the United States. SCS Field Services – Construction is a division of SCS Engineers (SCS).

Twenty years ago, Mr. Gilman began working on a project for SCS Engineers concerning methane mitigation from waste disposal at the George R. Vierno jail facility at Rikers Island in New York City. He subsequently joined the SCS Field Services Construction group, working on landfill gas collection systems, groundwater remediation and other projects. Today, Mr. Gilman’s role is the national marketing director for the construction group.

In addition to his duties at SCS, Mr. Gilman provides support services to NSWMA’s Virginia Waste Industries Association (VWIA), working to upgrade the association’s newsletter and website. He also participates in the Maryland-Delaware Solid Waste Association.

“We are honored to present Aaron with this award,” said Bruce J. Parker, NSWMA’s President and CEO. “He has been an active member of NSWMA and has volunteered valuable time towards VWIA’s communication efforts, helping to foster a better understanding of solid waste management’s integral role in the community.”

“It is a great honor to accept this award and represent SCS as an industry leader committed to environmental innovation and conservation of resources,” said Mr. Gilman.

The awards ceremony took place in Dallas, as part of the one of the waste industry’s national trade show, WasteExpo 2011 (wasteexpo.com).
