LOS ANGELES, CA — SCS Engineers, a firm with more than 40 years of solid waste planning, recycling, and materials management expertise, has been selected to assist the County of Los Angeles with as-needed Smart Business Recycling Services. This project is part of the effort to help the County comply with State recycling requirements and increase recycling and waste diversion levels.
SCS will identify waste reduction, recycling, and organics diversion opportunities through on-site waste assessments of unincorporated County businesses. New information will also be provided on new State laws that require businesses to recycle and to divert organics. SCS will also develop outreach and promotional materials to support the activities, including an awards program for businesses. Additional tasks may include waste characterization studies of County facilities, and a pilot food scraps collection program.
