CAC or CSST

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for someone who would be responsible for asbestos and lead-based paint inspection services based in our Long Beach, CA office. The job would include conducting asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, preparation of proposals and reports, conducting contractor oversight during abatement activities, and overseeing sampling efforts conducted by sampling technicians. Although not necessary for the position, you will preferably have experience preparing Phase I Environmental Assessment reports and conducting universal waste surveys.

How you can make an impact

• Conduct asbestos and lead-based paint inspections
• Prepare reports, conduct contractor oversight during abatement activities
• Prepare proposal/budgets
• Oversee sampling efforts conducted by sampling technicians
• % of Office vs Field: 50/50
• Manage projects and ensure project execution on time and within budget
• Most field work would be in the Los Angeles/Orange/San Bernardino/Riverside area, with some overnight travel possible
• Provide excellent client service and conduct business development to grow the asbestos practice

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5 to 10 years of relevant experience required.
• Current certification as a California OSHA Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and DPH Lead Inspector/Assessor/ Project Monitor preferred. At a minimum, at least a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) with a desire to become a CAC and DPH Lead Inspector/Assessor/ Project Monitor required.
• EPA-Accredited AHERA Inspector/Management Planner, EPA-Accredited AHERA Contractor/Supervisor, EPAAccredited Project Designer, or California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor preferred.
• Experience with calibrating and operation of sampling pumps required
• Good communication and writing skills required
• Valid drivers license and a driving record in good standing required

Pay range for this position is $70k to $100k depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
