What we are looking for

SCS Engineers (SCS) is excited to announce the opening of a position for a Climate Change Practice Leader. You should be a subject matter expert in climate science, climate change adaptation, and climate resiliency as well as possess exceptional inter-personal and client management skills. You will be a national technical leader for our Sustainability, Greenhouse Gas (GHG), and Clean Air Act (CAA) practice, specifically someone who can build on SCSs strong reputation and expertise in the fields of Sustainable Materials Management and GHG and create a complementary service line to address our clients growing need for broader Climate Change services in the United States.

As the Climate Change Practice Leader, you will be one of the team leaders within SCSs Strategic Initiative for Sustainability, GHG, and CAA, focused on Climate Change and work with our team of GHG and sustainability professionals to expand our repertoire of Climate Change services. This is an exceptional opportunity for a strong technical and entrepreneurial individual, who is truly passionate about delivering technical solutions and providing Climate Change services to existing and prospective clients of SCS. You can be hybrid or in-office out of any SCS office or remote.

  • Laws and regulations related to Climate Change
  • GHG emissions and reductions, carbon footprint analysis, and carbon credits
  • Life-cycle analyses for GHG emissions and Climate Change
  • Climate resiliency and recovery
  • Climate adaptation and mitigation
  • Business risks related to Climate Change
  • Climate Changes issues for governments

Business Development

  • Develop and manage a Climate Change consulting team with annual goals and targets
  • Manage and grow a pipeline of existing and new Climate Change business in collaboration with regional business unit leaders and GHG practitioners
  • Develop/implement a business develop and marketing plan for Climate Change services
  • Assist clients to understand Climate Change risks in a practical way, and the implications for their programs, by translating and tailoring complex and technical information

Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development/implementation of a Climate Change consulting strategic plan
  • Plan the course of the Climate Change component of our strategic initiative in collaboration with regional and technical leads
  • Represent SCS as a leader in Climate Change services at conferences and events, and support our public relations, communications, and marketing teams with top-notch content

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in relevant environmental discipline required. Master degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Climate Change consulting and leading project teams required.
  • Practical experience and technical expertise in planning, managing and implementing Climate Change adaptation and resilience activities.
  • Expertise in GHG emissions, reductions, and regulatory requirements, carbon credit markets, and GHG impacts.
  • Contemporary knowledge of Climate Change in North America, including climate change financing and funding sources.
  • Proven capacity to translate complex Climate Change information for non-technical professional users.
  • Business development experience and comfort working to ambitious growth targets.
  • Extensive experience managing teams and mentoring, training, and supporting team members to realize full potential.
  • Evidence of successful project delivery to multiple clients (private business, government, etc.).

Pay range for this position is $100k to $165k depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
