Project Environmental Scientist or Geologist

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for an energetic, forward-thinking Environmental Scientist or Geologist to join our Long Beach, CA office. You should be organized, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to grow professionally. This position will be on-site/in office initially with potential of becoming hybrid.

How you can make an impact

• A mixture of office and field work expected, with an emphasis on office work
• Experience conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Investigations following ASTM Standards
• Multi-media sampling (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, indoor air, methane, surface water, sediment, etc.)
• Lithological logging and boring log preparation
• Report writing and preparation of supporting documentation
• Potential for long field days and work at job sites throughout Southern California may be required with this position
• Proposal and budget preparation and management
• Project management of small to mid-scale projects and provide support on larger projects
• Communicate project status, schedules and compliance issues with clients, third parties, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field required
• Minimum of 6 years of related environmental experience required
• Must be well versed in water quality, environmental regulations and environmental assessment/remediation.
• Microsoft Office and computer programs (AutoCAD, Surfer, and/or ArcGIS preferred), field equipment experience preferred
• HAZWOPER training completed and up to date
• Progress towards professional certification (PE/PG) strongly preferred
• Knowledge on remediation systems and vapor intrusion mitigation systems preferred
• Detail-oriented and a team player with great communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Valid driver’s license with driving record in good standing required

Pay range is $90K $110K/year depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
