What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is seeking a skilled and ambitious Sales Engineer to join our dynamic sales team. As a Sales Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for assembling proposals under the direction of the Business Development Manager and providing technical support to our customers during the sales process. You will work closely and collaborate with our internal teams to understand customer requirements, develop solutions that meet their needs and author technical proposals using the provided tools and templates.

Additionally, you will collaborate with and execute on the direction of the Business Development Manager on developing and improving the work processes of the sales department, which pertains to the structured organization of files and notes on leads and opportunities using the companys enterprise software suite. The ideal candidate is a well-organized individual, a quick learner, has excellent front-end engineering and problem-solving skills and a passion for process improvement. This position is based in Long Beach with some hybrid work setting possible.

How you can make an impact

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our business lines and services.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager and technical teams to understand customer requirements and propose standard or custom technical solutions.
  • Prepare and present proposals and be involved in contract negotiations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including basis of design, PFDs, layouts, equipment lists, schedules and other FEED documentation.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify opportunities for product improvement and customization based on customer feedback.
  • Organize and maintain records of proposals issued and follow up on outstanding proposals with potential clients.
  • Provide regular reports on proposal activities and status.
  • Conduct product line presentations to potential clients virtually from the office and in person.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to develop effective sales strategies.
  • Assemble competitor, industry and market profiles at the direction of the Business Development Manager.
  • Coordinate the assembly of marketing materials and brochures for the company product lines.
  • Travel and participate in trade shows and industry presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in a relevant inside sales, application engineering, project engineering or similar role.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering principles related to processing, manufacturing and chemical plants.
  • Proficiency is preferred in one or more of the following: Chemical, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Controls or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong candidates will have experience in coordinating or performing Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) or FEL-2 level engineering.
  • Proficient in technical writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Ability to travel to meet with clients and participate in industry events (up to 20%).

Pay range for this position is $67k to $115k depending on experience and location. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
