What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a Senior Human Resources/Employee Relations Manager to be the primary HR contact for assigned client groups, with a specific emphasis on providing coaching to the HR Generalist team in the area of managing effective employee relations matters. You should excel in being part of a collaborative team and enjoy resolving/handling employee relations and coaching others. You will have the opportunity for career advancement, potentially leading to eventually overseeing the HR Generalist team. You will report to the VP of HR and can be hybrid (minimum of 2 days/week) in our Long Beach Headquarters.

How you can make an impact

  • Manage effective communication structures to ensure that assigned client groups remain informed of relevant organizational initiatives and projects.
  • Partner with assigned client groups to develop strategies and programs to enhance the overall employee experience with a focus on attraction and retention of talent.
  • Provide leadership, training and direction to HR generalist team specific to employee relations and related matters, ensuring exceptional client service levels and strong documentation practices.
  • Proactively maintain a positive work environment; provide support and counsel to assigned client group regarding all employee relations issues from coaching to corrective action and facilitate resolutions that are fair and consistent.
  • Advise and trains supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies. Develops further training as needed.
  • Assist supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Assume the lead in drafting required employee relations documentation in partnership with supervisors, and coach and prepare supervisors on delivery of such documentation to employees.
  • Take a lead role in conducting necessary and timely employment related investigations and ensure proper interview, reporting and documentation protocols are followed within the HR Generalist team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resource preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR Management experience required. Experience must include leading other team members with a specific focus on managing complex employee relations matters.
  • Experience working in multi-states required.
  • Experience working with construction or field staff or similar industries is preferred.
  • Supplementary training and/or designations (M.A., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing is required.

Pay range for this position is $130K to $150K/year depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
