Staff Engineer or Scientist

Job Summary

Our work directly and materially improves the natural environment and combats climate change. SCS Engineers is seeking a staff to mid-level environmental professional for our Tracer Business Unit. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner and self-motivated, eager to learn, embraces teamwork, and has the desire to grow and develop professionally honing project and client management skills. The ideal candidate has the ability to manage deadlines and client expectations. This position will be hybrid in our Carlsbad office. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• A mixture of office and field work expected, with an emphasis on office work.
• Write and prepare reports such as proposals, Process Safety Management, EPA Risk Management Programs, CA HMBPs.
• Complete site inspections as needed for reporting.
• Multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air) and reporting.
• Compliance monitoring, permitting, document preparation, and proposals.
• Prepare budgets and schedules for client project and manage budgets, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and scheduling for client projects.
• Review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in science or engineering required. Relevant majors such as Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related environmental experience required such as the following:
  • Experience with PSM/RMP and CalARP Programs
  • Health Risk Assessments / modeling
  • California Health and Safety Code Inventory Reporting, Waste Reporting, UST and AST
• Valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing required.
