What we are looking for

The Staff Professional will be expected to provide environmental assessment/ monitoring and engineering/design support for projects being conducted for private and public clients. As new work develops, the individual will be required to maintain contact with the Project Manager/delegated Project Lead for assignments and manage the work being conducted in accordance with the project schedule and at a level of quality consistent with the SCS Quality Management System and standard industry practices. The individual will conduct assignments in an office setting and in the field.

At this level the Staff Professional should begin exercising more independent judgement and be able to complete tasks with less direction from the Project Manager or other delegated Project Lead.

How you can make an impact

  • Record data during field work, which could include, but is not limited to: soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, photographs, or summaries of visual observations through photograph and written field logs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare environmental assessment/ monitoring reports, including tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches and/or figures.  
  • Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites, including: soil, air, surface water, groundwater, and landfill gas.
  • Oversee drilling activities involving, monitoring and well installation, borehole logging, well development, and sampling.
  • Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations to ensure compliance with construction documents.
  • Complete quality control reviews on all work product (reports, design plans, design calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and clients as directed.
  • Coordinate with CAD drafters/designers for design plans/figures or uses AutoCAD for basic design plans/ figures.
  • Prepare reports such as: Phase I, Phase II, Soil Management Plan, Dust Control Plan, environmental site assessment, emission, groundwater, and compliance reporting.
  • Prepare permit applications and/or regulatory agency submittals and responses with supporting documentation as requested.
  • Prepare calculations for reports and in support of design documents, including applicable modeling, as requested.
  • Prepare short form site specific health and safety plans and assist in the preparation of long form site specific health and safety plans as requested.
  • Participate in health and safety training as required.
  • Review technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff in the completion of field work, reports, design calculations, design plans
  • Serve as a resource for junior staff and assist staff to troubleshoot field work issues.


  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License with a driving record in good standing required.
