Summer Intern - Renewable Energy

What we are looking for

SCS is looking for a summer 2024 Intern for our Renewable Energy division. The division focuses on renewable energy design/build/operate projects in the renewable biogas and renewable power markets. SCS Energys biogas-to-energy facilities currently operating, or currently under design or construction, will remove more than 2,000,000 metric tons/year of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) in greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. SCS goal is to provide a student intern with valuable technical and engineering business experience through our diverse range of projects for the clients we serve. In addition, we believe this opportunity provides a student intern the ability to explore the beginnings of their own career path. Interns will work 30- 40 hours per week typically. The paid internship will start in May/June 2024 and end in August/September 2024. The exact start and end dates will be determined to fit with your school schedule. This position will be based in the Long Beach office 5 days per week with some possible travel to sites.

How you can make an impact

You contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

• Process analysis for biogas utilization projects
• Mechanical piping design
• Mechanical equipment selection and analysis
• Create, compile and organize project documentation
• Start up and commissioning engineering support on site
• Design drawing and 3D modeling creation, modification and checking

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and graduating by June 2026 required
• Must be willing to live in the Long Beach area for Summer 2024 (housing allowance will not be provided)
• Solid technical and computer skills (AutoCAD experience preferred)
• Previous leadership experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required

Pay range for this position is $20 to $22/hour depending on experience.
