Who we are and what we are looking for

SCS Engineers is an employee-owned environmental consulting and contracting firm that designs and implements sustainable environmental solutions. We just celebrated our 50th anniversary as a company on April 1, 2020! Our core capabilities are: solid and hazardous waste management, landfill gas, environmental due-diligence and assessment, brownfields, redevelopment , site remediation, renewable energy, and regulatory compliance for businesses and municipalities responsible for protecting our air, water, and soil. SCS is seeking a full-time environmental field technician for our Boca Raton, Florida office. Environmental technicians work with scientists and engineers on a variety of land redevelopment, electric utility, remediation, chemical/petroleum spill projects, and municipal solid waste landfill projects.  A qualified field technician should be able to follow regulatory requirements, standard operating procedures, and SCS protocols, exercise independent judgement and be able to complete tasks and projects with little to minimal direction from management.

  • Receives work assignments from Project Managers or their designees
  • Administratively reports to assigned supervisor
  • May work independently or in conjunction with other staff to complete assigned tasks
  • Well installation oversight
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Soil Sampling
  • Vapor monitoring
  • Field note preparation
  • Surveying

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical or construction-related fields required
  • Experience with environmental field work preferred
  • Associates degree in environmental or construction field preferred
  • Solid technical, mechanical, and computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required
  • Valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing required
  • Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office, extended out of town fieldwork is required
  • Strong communication skills and great attention to detail and solid judgment are a must
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required
