Gene Dumas

Gene Dumas, CARO, CIRO, is a Vice President of SCS Engineers and Project Director of the Risk Management group. He has over three decades of refrigeration experience, including ammonia experience in the poultry, fish, and dairy processing industries. His primary responsibility is assisting facilities that use anhydrous ammonia to address EPA’s Risk Management Program (RMP) and OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements. Those duties include facilitating Process Hazard Analysis studies; conducting Process Safety Management audits; and completing Risk Management studies. He is an expert in mechanical integrity inspections and audits.
Mr. Dumas is also SCS Tracer’s lead refrigeration operator instructor. As a Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) Authorized Instructor (RAI), Mr. Dumas is responsible for content quality and presentation for our refrigeration-related training courses.
Prior to joining the SCS Tracer Environmental team, Mr. Dumas, served as the Maintenance Engineer for Hunter Farms Dairy from 1997-2015, where he was involved with PSM/PMP requirements from implemenation to law. He was responsible for several capital projects (some PSM-related) from development, budgeting, executing and follow-up (Management of Change / Pre-Startup Safety Review). He has also worked as an Electricians Mate in the US Navy (Honorable Discharge).
