Srividhya Viswanathan, P.E., or Vidhya as many know her, is now SWANA’s Vice Director of the Landfill Gas & Biogas Technical Division. The term runs through June 2027.
The Technical Division’s work focuses on key areas related to landfill gas and biogas, including landfill gas (LFG) recovery, control, management, utilization, system design, operation, and maintenance under the co-leadership of Director Michael Jensen, Vice Director Vidhya Viswanathan, and Past Director V. Nicole Burkhardt.
As Vice Director of the Landfill Gas & Biogas Technical Division, she brings deep insight as a former owner/operator and a civil/environmental engineer specializing in landfill, landfill gas engineering, and organics management. Her innovative engineering plans and designs are helping major entities move both traditional solid waste and renewable energy programs toward more efficient capture and reuse practices.
As a Young Professional, Waste360 recognized her as a 2019 40 under 40 award winner for her inspiring and innovative work in waste, recycling, and organics. She has made significant contributions to the industry and her clients, earning more accolades throughout her career.
Collaboration and teamwork are core to Vidhya’s approach. “We accomplish more when we work together—across public and private sectors, technical disciplines, and geographies,” she says. “It’s how we build solutions that are not only practical and sustainable but impactful at scale.”
What matters most to Vidhya is the reason members elected her, she says, “My experience translates well for the Landfill Gas & Biogas Technical sessions, webinars, training courses, and technical documents. We research and advise on hot topics, regulations, design and operational standards, health and safety, and technologies for utilization.”
