James J. Walsh Elected to the Environmental Research and Education Foundation Board

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) recently elected James Walsh, CEO and President of SCS Engineers, to their Board of Directors (BOD). In this capacity, Mr. Walsh will work on the Scholarship Committee. He will assume his new position on December 12, 2014.

Scholarships are awarded by EREF to recognize excellence in masters, doctoral or post-doctoral waste management research and education. Additional scholarships through EREF are made possible by SCS Engineers and in prior years by SCS through the late Robert P. Stearns, cofounder of SCS Engineers, former Chairman and founding member of EREF.

His long project experience, coupled with his involvement in professional and industrial associations, and his work with the U.S. EPA, U.S. DOE, and the Gas Research Institute, has earned him and SCS an international reputation in compliance-driven environmental solutions.” stated EREF President and CEO, Bryan F. Staley.

Jim Walsh said, “It’s an honor to be involved in expanding industry knowledge, understanding, and then translating ideas into action for sustainable waste management practices. The Foundation has a powerful environmental impact benefiting our industry and the communities we serve.”

Walsh, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, is a Registered Professional Engineer in: Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia. He is certified by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE) as a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE).
