Sonoma County waste audits as it develops ‘zero waste’ plan

This week (June 30), 20 waste audits were conducted at different Sonoma County facilities representing the range of services. Sites audited included the park, airport, detention facility, and the County Administration Building. A specialized waste audit team visits each location, dissects the collected waste, and then categorizes it based on material and weight. The data is then integrated with additional information collected to depict the overall waste production and recommendations to achieve zero waste. The Climate Action & Resiliency Division should have a final report consolidated in August.
