The new Kern County composting facility designed and permitted by SCS Engineers will help reduce methane emissions (greenhouse gas) from the local landfill. Composting is an important element of sustainable materials management as it offers a way of processing biodegradable wastes, a large portion of what is landfilled in the U.S. [1]. Converting waste into compost helps minimize air, water, and soil pollution while producing a product that helps improve soils, grow the next generation of crops, and improve water quality.
