SAN DIEGO, CA – Zephyr Partners has completed the demolition phase of a redevelopment project in the City of Carlsbad. Award-winning environmental consulting firm, SCS Engineers, was retained to prepare the three-acre site for construction of 35 condominiums. Local businesses and residents expressed their satisfaction with the work and outcome to City officials because of minimal disruptions to the community throughout the demolition phase of the project.

As part of the site preparation process, SCS Engineers identified the presence of asbestos and lead-based paint exposed during the demolition. SCS Engineers conducted the necessary asbestos and lead-based paint abatement of the current site including, four two-story, 51-unit apartment buildings and common areas containing a swimming pool, laundry room, and carports.

“SCS was fast, efficient, and responsive to environmental concerns expressed by the site’s neighbors and the community at large,” said Brad Termini, CEO of Zephyr Partners. “Their expert knowledge and management of potential environmental impacts ensured that the demolition and abatement was done safely and precisely.”

The SCS project team is led by Vice President Christopher Spengler with subcontractors ACE Excavating & Environmental Services, Inc. (demolition), Janus Corporation (abatement), Air America (abatement monitoring), and Diamond Environmental Services, Inc. (site fencing and hygiene facilities).
