Landfill gases were tagged with perfluorocarbon (PFC) tracers to identify multiple points of odorous gas emissions from the La Puente Hill Landfill in Los Angeles County. Potential odorous gas plumes were tracked from on-site source areas into landfill-adjacent neighborhoods.
The PFC tracer experiments were used to establish a mitigation plan to eliminate odor impacts to residential neighborhoods surrounding the landfill.
