Shanxi Jincheng Anthracite Coal Mining Company (JMG) has constructed a 120-megawatt power plant fired by coal mine methane (CMM), which contains about 40 percent methane. The power plant will incorporate the following principal components:
The project cost is about $200 million in United States dollars. Revenue produced by the project will consist of avoided power purchases, sale of excess power to the local utility company and the sale of certified emission reductions (CERs) under the Clean Development Mechanism.
