Organics Management – Compost Facility Operations in Middletown, Rhode Island

SCS provided operations services for the compost facility located at the Rhode Island Nurseries, Inc. facility. The facility accepts yard waste and uses an open windrow method of composting. Operations services included provision and use of a Komptech X-60 compost turner to turn the windrows. Rhode Island Nurseries used the finished product on its property.
SCS tasks included the following:

1. Prepare a layout of the Site to prepare for operations.
2. Provide a compost turner, operated by SCS staff, to turn and manage windrows on the site.
3. Monitor the windrows for temperature and moisture, and maintain records of the measurements.
