What we are looking for

We are seeking a Staff to Senior-Level Engineer in our Nashville, Tennessee office. You should embrace teamwork, be experienced in consulting engineering, seek learning opportunities, and have the desire to grow professionally. The Brentwood/Nashville office is quickly expanding and you will have ample opportunity to develop into a leadership role. You are expected to take full ownership in your own success and that of SCS Engineers. You will work on a broad range of projects that require office and field work.

How you can make an impact

  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and practices in solid waste and environmental services projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
  • Make independent decisions on engineering or scientific problems and methods.
  • Perform field work in varied terrain and weather, including but not limited to, sample collection/data gathering, CQA for soil and geosynthetic material installations, inspections, etc.
  • Complete office-based tasks, including: CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, creating site plans and facility diagrams, preparing permit applications, engineering plans and specifications, completing bid letting documents, etc.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulators, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with business development activities that include meeting with clients and potential clients, preparing proposals, attending conferences, etc.
  • Prepare site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Assist in training junior staff.
  • Position expected to consist of 60-70 percent office time and 30-40 percent field work.
  • 10 to 20 percent travel expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in the fields of Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required. Experience in the solid waste industry, including landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting, preferred, but not required.
  • P.E. if eligible, Engineer-In-Training certificate required.
  • Competent using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting. Experience using AutoCAD software preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay range for this position is $60K to $105K/year depending on experience. This does not include bonuses or our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
