What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist to be the primary HR point of contact for the Field Services OM&M Business Unit, with a specific emphasis on managing employee relations matters. If you thrive in being part of a collaborative team and enjoy employee relations, then this position could be for you!  You will report to the HR Manager and be hybrid in our Long Beach Headquarters. 

How you can make an impact as a Senior HR Generalist

  • Proactively maintain a positive work environment; provide support and counsel to assigned client group regarding all employment relation issues from coaching to corrective action and facilitate resolutions that are fair and consistent.
  • Advises and trains managers in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
  • Assist managers in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Assume the lead in drafting required employee relations documentation in partnership with managers, and coach and prepare managers on delivery of such documentation to employees.
  • Take a lead role in conducting necessary and timely employment related investigations and ensure proper interview, reporting and documentation protocols are adhered to.
  • Manage assigned client group annual performance evaluation process and coach management to provide valuable, timely and consistent performance feedback.
  • Partner with Health & Safety and Training and Development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resource preferred. Candidates without a degree will be considered with equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 + years of experience functioning in a generalist capacity required.
  • Experience managing employee relations matters required.
  • Experience working in multi-states required.
  • Experience working with construction or field staff is preferred.
  • Supplementary training and/or designations (M.A., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
