SCS Engineers is looking for a Project Engineer to join our 100% employee-owned firm and start creating your own legacy within our Tracer business unit. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities on-site with regard to project scope, schedule, manpower, and budget. May include expediting receipt of equipment and materials for utilization at various phases of work. This role is expected to be 60% field 40% Lab/Office.
How you can make an impact
Enforces safety rules onsite and performs SAFE observations during projects. Ensures that the proper PPE and equipment is available and used onsite.
Review project scope/plans, specifications, schedule, budget, contract documents, and deliverables.
Review of Project Estimator’s material take-offs and equipment requirements to verify accuracy prior to ordering.
Become familiar with subcontractors work scope, costs, and time limits.
Review and follow cost estimates as closely as possible.
Provide assistance in setting up accounts with local hardware stores, rental companies, etc.
Plan daily crew work schedule.
Track equipment and labor cost.
Call off rental equipment when it is no longer needed. Make notes on repairs, flats, or damage to equipment.
Review all timesheets and expense reports turned in at the job site and approve before submitting to the office.
Provide project/cost performance feedback to the estimator so appropriate adjustments can be made on current (and future) bids under preparation.
Interview and hire personnel for local work.
Gather information regarding change order requirements (scope/cost) and submit to Project Manager and Project Estimator (if appropriate) for development and submittal.
Assist laborers in pipe fusion, gas well drilling, installation of gas system piping, and entering confined spaces and sumps for installation and repair of gas system and leachate piping.
Assists in operating one or several types of power construction equipment, such as graders, rough terrain extended boom forklifts, bulldozers, scrapers, cranes, back hoe, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth.
Qualifications
Requires 8 to 12 years field construction experience that may be gained through practical experience and/or a degree in engineering with good field/design experience.
Proven track record of successful oversight of projects as a Superintendent or Foreman.
Comprehensive knowledge of installation and/or operation and maintenance of environmental pollution control systems.
40 hour Health & Safety, 8 hour Supervisor, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, Confined Space Entry, and Trench Excavation Safety training; high school diploma preferred.
Experience or demonstrated high degree of aptitude in mechanical work; analytical problem solving and data analysis; interpretation of plans, specifications, schematics, manufacturer manuals, system operation and maintenance manuals; interpretation of applicable codes and regulations.
Effective organizational as well as written and verbal communication skills.
Meet physical requirements for driving (pick-up truck), lifting and carrying equipment/mechanical components (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), hand excavation/digging (using shovels/picks), carrying and climbing ladders, operating and working from man lifts, operating electric tools, (drills, saws, etc.), using hand tools, (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.), and providing services under various weather conditions. Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing required.
Pay Range
USD $40.00 – USD $50.00 /Hr.
