Kenton Yang, P.E., Joins SCS Engineers as Solid Waste and Landfill Specialist

RALIEGH, NC – SCS Engineers welcomes Kenton Yang, P.E, to the firm’s Solid Waste Services practice. He is a Project Director in Raleigh, North Carolina, responsible for providing landfill engineering and solid waste management consulting services in the region.

With nearly two decades of experience in civil and environmental engineering, Kenton’s expertise includes landfill siting and permitting and consist of the planning, design, operations, and construction management for municipal solid waste landfills (Subtitle D), construction and demolition debris landfills, land clearing and inert debris landfills, and utility coal ash landfills. His capabilities also involve entrance facilities, household hazardous waste facilities, and convenience centers. He has experience in a variety of solid waste management assessments and planning projects as well as sanitary sewer rehabilitation design and construction inspection.

Kenton has worked with counties and cities throughout North Carolina, serving as the client contact in addition to managing their capital improvement projects, annual environmental compliance assistance, various plans, and on-call services. He has had the opportunity to work throughout the east coast, with the Delaware Solid Waste Authority, as well as nationally.

Kenton conducted landfill site selection and site suitability permitting for a coal ash landfill for a power utility in the southeast, as well as design, permitting, and construction management for two of its five landfill phases. He assisted in landfill operational issues, including stormwater control and leachate management, and was responsible for site compliance associated with EPA’s CCR rule.

A Professional Engineer licensed in North Carolina, Kenton has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida at Gainesville. He is also an active member of NC SWANA.
