Long Beach, CAEngineering News-Record (ENR) published its latest Top 500 Design Firms Sourcebook in July 2006, and for the third consecutive year, SCS Engineers (SCS) ranks as the nation’s #1 Solid Waste consulting firm, in terms of revenue.

This top ranking confirms SCS’ continued strong growth over the past four years. SCS’ sustained success has stemmed from planned expansions into high-opportunity geographic markets through acquisitions and new offices; broadening services to include more construction and operations contracts; and pushing initiatives in Brownfields redevelopment services, Federal services, and distributed energy project development.

Recent project awards include: a third five-year EPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) contract to provide technical and training support to promote the beneficial use of landfill gas both domestically and internationally; a contract to design, construct, and operate two 3.2 MW landfill gas-fired power plants; a Solid Waste Disposal and Co-Disposal Site Cleanup Program Contract issued by the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) – a program that reduces or eliminates threats to public health and safety or the environment at waste disposal sites where the responsible parties either cannot be identified or are unable or unwilling to pay for timely remediation.

“SCS is proud of its achievements and our recent high rankings among our peers,” says SCS President, Jim Walsh.  “But it is our clients, and only our clients, who enable us to build a practice by application of our technical expertise and by implementing our oft-stated adage:  ‘SCS adopts its clients’ environmental challenges as our own.’ We sincerely thank our clients for helping us maintain this #1 ranking for the third time in as many years.”
