CHICAGO, IL – SCS Engineers welcomes Scott Knoepke, PE and PG, as Project Director to the firm’s Environmental Services practice. He will oversee SCS’s remediation and due diligence programs in Chicago, Illinois, and the surrounding region.

Knoepke acquired his expertise and experience working with industries in Illinois and surrounding states to prevent, mitigate, and remediate facilities, properties, and sites from environmental contamination. The characteristics of potential contamination vary from site to site as each has different physical properties and different potential contaminants.

Knoepke’s expertise includes the design, permitting, and implementation of environmental remediation plans for real estate. These plans can consist of Phase I & II investigations, in-situ remediation, and voluntary clean-up program support. Prevention procedures for industrial properties include stormwater management and treatment planning, environmental permitting, and compliance.

As a Professional Engineer licensed in several states and as a Professional Geologist licensed in Illinois, Scott has a valuable combination of technical experience and expertise. He helps clients investigate and plan to protect properties and the surrounding environment in order to save them time and money. He is respected in the industry for his attention to detail and ability to work closely with state agencies, keeping them informed of his strategic design and plans to achieve compliance.

“Scott’s expertise helps our industrial clients prevent future contamination, and can prepare them for the geotechnical issues to prevent environmental liabilities,” stated Mark Huber, the regional business unit director. “He has planned, permitted, and implemented the remediation of large sites with historical damage back to healthy and safe environments.”

Scott Knoepke received his Master of Science degree in environmental management and sustainability from the Stuart Graduate School of Business in Chicago. He also earned three Bachelor’s degrees in geological engineering, geophysics, and geology at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin, and a licensed Professional Geologist in Illinois.
