Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Community College District, the largest district in the California Community College system, has contracted SCS Engineers to plan, design, and implement a new approach to procuring services to process the waste generated from its nine colleges, and satellite locations within Los Angeles County. The new approach will be based on best practices for waste hauling, recycling, and sustainable materials diversion.
“Our local sustainable materials management team has all of the expertise required to develop the new procurement strategy for the district,” said Michelle Leonard, SCS Vice President, and Sustainable Materials Management Practice Leader. “That includes deep technical and managerial knowledge of waste collection and recycling, experience in education, negotiating expertise, and an understanding of local policies.”
SCS will also help the district in contracting and negotiations with vendors, develop a transition plan and start-up schedule, and support the district’s public outreach and education efforts to kick off the resulting programs.
