SCS Engineers Awarded Engineering Design Services Contract for Huachuca City Landfill

July 20, 2011

HUACHUCA, Ariz. —SCS Engineers, an environmental engineering and contracting firm, has been selected by Huachuca City Public Works Department for an engineering design services contract to expedite the expansion of the city’s solid waste disposal facility.  A recent review of the city’s landfill indicated a near-term need to develop additional capacity to provide uninterrupted service to city residents.

The contract calls for SCS to begin work immediately since it can take up to one year to obtain a landfill expansion permit through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). SCS’s scope of services includes completion of a property boundary survey, preparation of preliminary design plans for a vertical expansion, and support during reviews of those plans by both the City and ADEQ.

Following city approvals, SCS will finalize permit level design plans, and provide permit assistance as well as overall project management.

SCS Project Director Pat Sullivan will lead this contract along with Project Manager Hugh Walker, who is based in SCS’s Phoenix office.
