SCS Engineers Awarded Environmental Consulting Contract by City of Oakland

OAKLAND, CA – The City of Oakland’s goal is to improve sustainability and effective resource conservation for years to come. To ensure it achieve its objectives, the City has awarded SCS Engineers with a contract for solid waste and recycling consulting services. The scope of work provided through this on-call contract includes:

  • Assisting City staff in the oversight of a special assessment system for delinquent garbage bills.
  • Collaborating with City staff to improve the administrative procedures that manage the construction and demolition (C&D) non-exclusive franchises.
  • Provide technical assistance to businesses to assist them in complying with recycling and organic material diversion mandates.
  • Assist City staff in planning and implementation of SB 1383 – related programs and activities including but not limited to assessment of the City’s existing programs and gaps in compliance; assessment of Oakland Municipal Code compliance and needed amendments; cost analysis associated with compliance.

SCS has extensive technical expertise in critical core areas such as sustainable environmental practices that support the economic goals of clients. The company also has deep experience in managing recycling programs, auditing and reviewing franchise performance, assessing materials characterization and diversion, reporting and data management, and permitting.
