SAN DIEGO, CA. — SCS Engineers’ Southwest Stormwater Manager, Cory Jones, and Project Scientist, Jonathan Meronek, are now certified California Stormwater Industrial General Permit (IGP) Trainers-of-Record (ToR) for Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) Training Courses. Fewer than 175 individuals have earned this professional certification.
As Trainers-of-Record, Jones and Meronek will offer QISP training classes for facility compliance personnel and consultants under the IGP. They plan to help new and existing California Industrial Dischargers to reduce their compliance cost burdens by developing industry sector Compliance Groups. These Compliance Groups, which can only be led by QISP ToRs, allow for a reduced number of annual samples to be collected at each facility.
“Due to the limited number of ToRs in California, we are excited to now have two on staff and be able to offer this valuable service,” said Dan Johnson, Vice President of SCS Engineers and a former member of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board. “By leading groups, we can help create reductions in sampling, combined reporting, and better economies of scale for IGP compliance.”
To achieve QISP status, individuals must complete 16 hours of online training, pass an online exam, and attend a full-day orientation class provided by a QISP ToR.
