SCS ENGINEERS: NUMBER ONE and HOT  in 2004

July 21, 2004

Long Beach, CASCS Engineers (SCS) is the nation’s number one Solid Waste Consulting Company according to McGraw-Hill’s industry standard Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine, July 2004 issue.  SCS is also one of the 100 Fastest-Growing Architectural, Engineering, Planning, and Environmental Consulting Firms in the U.S. according to the Zweig Letter Hot Firm 2004 List, published June 28, 2004.

These rankings confirm SCS’ sustained strong growth of 15 percent per annum over the past 3 years.  SCS’ success has stemmed from programmed expansions into high-opportunity geographic markets via acquisitions and new offices, and pushing initiatives in remediation construction, Federal services, and distributed energy project development.

Among several thousand recent projects, SCS performed remediation for development of the Petco Ballpark in San Diego, operated groundwater pump-and-treat systems at Superfund sites in Washington and Oregon, cleaned up a foundry site in California, cleaned up groundwater contaminated with MTBE in Virginia, completed voluntary remediation/Brownfield projects in more than a dozen states, provided landfill permit expansion and compliance services at hundreds of landfills, and continued to serve as one of the world’s leading authorities in the design, construction and operation of landfill gas collection systems, including installation of microturbines or fuel cells for landfill gas to energy generation at more than a dozen sites.

“SCS is proud of its achievements and our recent high rankings among our peers,” says SCS President, Jim Walsh.  “But it is our clients, and only our clients, who enable us to build a practice by application of our technical expertise and by implementing our oft-stated adage:  ‘SCS adopts its clients’ environmental challenges as our own.’ ”
