LONG BEACH, Calif. – SCS Engineers was recently retained as an environmental consultant to assess environmental conditions within the Malibu Civic Center Wastewater Treatment Plant project area. The assessment, based on the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) guidelines will be included in an Environmental Impact Report. The report, based on data obtained during the assessment, is used to identify any possible significant effects on the environment.

When completed, the project will consist of an expanded Wastewater Treatment Facility, two injection well areas, six pumping stations, and several sewage conveyance pipes within the public right-of-way. The project area is bound by Malibu Canyon Road to the west, the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains to the north, Sweetwater Canyon Drive to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

“The Limited Phase I Environmental Assessment is a necessary component of the Environmental Impact Report for this project,” said Leslie Dumas, Senior Water Resources Engineer for RMC Water and Environment. “The assessment will help us to understand any potential problem areas that may be encountered during project construction.”
