NORWALK, Calif. – SCS Engineers has been selected by the City of Norwalk to provide consulting services for a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) of a former landfill, a state Superfund site. Based on the results of the assessment, the City will identify potential new uses for the property.
SCS Engineers will complete a Phase II ESA for the City of Norwalk to help determine accurate boundaries of the landfill. The firm’s scope of responsibilities also includes lab analysis of the fill materials, a Methane Plan in accordance with Santa Fe Springs Fire Department regulations and a complete Phase II ESA Report.
The City of Norwalk is considering developing the property into a Transportation/ Public Services Annex to provide additional storage facility space for vehicles and equipment.
“Based on SCS’s experience in consulting on the safe reuse of former landfills, they were chosen as the best firm to lead us through this increasingly critical issue, as local governments seek to maximize the constructive use of properties under their jurisdiction” said Vickie Yoshikawa, Senior Management Analyst for the City of Norwalk.
