Ambient Air Monitoring – Southern California Air Quality Study (SCAQS), California Air Resources Board

In conjunction with a comprehensive multi-agency air quality study of the South California Air Basis (SoCab), a series of perfluorocarbon (PFC) tracer releases were conducted along the Los Angeles coastal region to document plume movement into the air basin interior regions.

Four PFC tracers were deployed from two locations. Each location conducted simultaneous releases from a power plant stack and ground level. Plume impacts were measured at over 70 locations over a 48-hour period. Plumes were detected over ranges in excess of 150 kilometers.
