Do you love researching a sites history to find past uses? We are seeking an energetic, self-driven person who is experienced in the management and execution of Phase I ESAs. If you are looking to be part of a fast-paced and friendly team, SCS Engineers is for you. SCS is a leader in land redevelopment. We are seeking a full-time Project Scientist/Engineer that meets the definition of an environmental professional who meets the education, training, and experience requirements as set forth in 40 CFR 312.10(b).  You must have an in-depth knowledge of the planning and execution of Phase Is and related consulting. You need to possess the knowledge and skills required to inspect and author Phase Is in a timely manner. You will be responsible for managing and/or completing inspections throughout the tri-county area (Palm Beach, Broward, Miami) and possibly other areas within Florida, as needed. You need to be adept at managing employee and client communications in a timely and professional manner to resolve technical questions or concerns. We are open to this position being remote in the Southeast Region or reporting to any SCS office in Florida.

  • Complete and finalize specific project tasks according to deadlines and within budget
  • Project research (historical, analytical, etc.)
  • Communication with client and subject site representatives including senior reviewers and clients
  • Conducting appropriate site reconnaissance and proper identification of site conditions and RECs
  • Data compilation and organization
  • Technical report authoring
  • Understanding of quality supporting documents (site figures, appendices, etc.)
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Project Director associated with the report deliverable schedule and plan.
  • Mentor and train staff.
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones to ensure project progress status is on schedule.
  • Provide solid recommendations and solutions while understanding the assessments potential impact on the transaction process.
  • Identify and resolve issues with projects (i.e., delays, access restrictions, site conditions, etc.)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in biological/environmental sciences or engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in environmental consulting with direct experience preparing ESA reports.
  • Projects involve a degree of travel and candidates must have a valid drivers license with a driving record in good standing.
  • Stay apprised of current and relevant requirements/regulations/standards including upcoming ASTM revisions.
  • Comprehensive writing skills including technical writing.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory agencies and applicable codes.
