Republic Services, Inc. (Republic) is a leading provider of services in the domestic, non-
hazardous solid waste industry. They provide non-hazardous solid waste collection services for commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential customers through 400 collection companies in 40 states and Puerto Rico. They also own or operate hundreds of transfer stations, solid waste landfills and recycling facilities. For Republic, SCS Engineers developed a nationwide reporting process for the over 200 landfills required to report under the Federal GHG Reporting Program (GHGRP).
Every year, SCS develops updated reporting tools and provides liaison between Republic and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) with regard to new developments in the GHGRP.
To standardize preparation of the inventories, SCS used an online collaborative workspace to enable coordination of deliverables and supporting documentation for each landfill. The scope involved developing standardized reporting and data gathering procedures that were overseen and implemented by SCS and other consultants, under the direction of Republic.
