      He began his career in ammonia refrigeration shortly after obtaining his degree working at Polar Brewery in Venezuela as an Engineering Services Mechanical Maintenance Analyst. Polar Brewery utilizes an ammonia refrigeration system containing 150,000 pounds of ammonia and is one of Latin America’s largest breweries by volume. After several years of working in Venezuela he relocated to the United States where he continued to work with ammonia refrigeration on a 99,000-pound system at Unilever Ice Cream North America in Henderson, NV as an Engineering Services Maintenance Supervisor. He had responsibilities that included managing the facility refrigeration system, related PSM/RMP Programs and Nevada’s Chemical Accident Prevention Program (CAPP).
      Prior to joining SCS Tracer environmental Juan worked for Lineage Logistics as the Engineering / Maintenance Manager for their 700,000 sf. cold storage facility in Mira Loma, CA. Once again his key responsibilities included managing the facility’s ammonia refrigeration system, PSM/RMP programs and California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP) program. He additionally managed environmental and safety programs, budgeted and executed capital projects, prepared and managed budgets, achieved significant energy savings, among others.

He manages environmental projects ranging from small site inspections to multi-year evaluation and monitoring investigations. Many of these projects involve evaluation of environmental impacts, and monitoring and compliance for both closed and active solid/hazardous waste management facilities, including establishing monitoring systems, preparing monitoring and compliance plans, performing ongoing monitoring through sample collection and analysis, evaluation of field and laboratory analysis results, and preparation of regulatory compliance reports for detection monitoring, evaluation monitoring, and corrective action implementation and assessment. Ms. Pyle has developed EPA Risk Management Program submittal documentation (Risk Management Plans) for dozens of facilities, including developing Executive Summaries detailing each facility’s safety features, management structure, and potential risks associated with the process for EPA review and approval.
      Ms. Pyle has worked with industry groups to develop standardized Process Safety Management Programs (PSM) for industry members to ensure compliance with OSHA’s 1910.119 regulation (Cal-OSHA Title 8, §5189). She has also been involved in auditing facility PSM programs. Ms. Pyle’s experience includes all aspects of preparing documentation for PSM and California’s Accidental Release Prevention Program (CalARP) programs. This includes participating in Hazard and Operability Studies as the team leader, quality control, preparing qualitative risk assessments, and conducting off-site consequence analyses.
