SCS Engineers is nearing completion of Mason County’s solid waste management plan (SWMP) update.
After the County drafted several chapters of its plan update, SCS was retained to develop new chapters, complete the document, and work with stakeholders prior to submitting the draft plan for review and approval. The purpose of the plan is to comply with the state-mandated update schedule, as well as to review prior initiatives and develop new goals.
Other drivers pushing the planning process are coordination with the County Comprehensive Plan, growth in the communities of Shelton and Belfair, planned development of event venues in adjacent counties, and maintaining continuity with peninsular jurisdictions to the north moving waste through Mason County.
