Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee - ETTAC

On December 11, 2024, the US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, appointed Dana Blumberg of SCS Engineers to the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC). Blumberg is the Vice President of Federal and International Services for the environmental engineering firm SCS Engineers, which designs and implements technology to monitor, capture/reuse, and sequester greenhouse gases. Secretary Raimondo said in her press release,

The US environmental technologies sector represents $432 billion in revenue and employs 1.8 million American workers – making it a vital industry for driving innovation and positioning the United States as a global leader in environmental technologies. I look forward to receiving the committee’s recommendations on approaches for how the Department can continue supporting the competitiveness of American environmental technologies.

Dana Blumberg is a Professional Engineer (PE) and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) in Solid Waste Management. As an appointee, Blumberg will serve a two-year term, advocating for the interests of American businesses and workers while promoting the expansion of US environmental technology exports.

She joins the ETTAC bringing over thirty years of professional and technological experience in civil/environmental engineering, including landfill gas emissions modeling and collection system design; landfill gas energy technology evaluation, feasibility analysis, energy user outreach, and analysis; landfill closures; transfer station design and construction; and stormwater hydrology and hydraulics.

Her experience in the waste management industry and participation in its associations, such as the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), where she serves on its Advisory Board; International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), and the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), will strengthen two-way communication between industry and government.

SCS Engineers CEO Doug Doerr said, “Our nation will greatly benefit by combining government and industry expertise such as Dana’s to demonstrate proven technologies and grow advanced technologies that sustainably help us achieve environmental protection.”
