SCS Tracer Environmental is licensed by the state of California as a Class A - General Engineering Contractor (License No. 737751) and a Class Haz - Hazardous Substances Removal Contractor. SCS Tracer Environmental maintains a staff of professionals with thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations regarding environmental construction issues as well as the latest techniques and methods utilized. SCS Tracer Environmental has a contract with Central Coast Remedial Resources, Inc. (www.ccrri.com), a California corporation that has been awarded the franchise contract to operate the Santa Maria Sanitary Landfill (SMSL) Non-Hazardous Hydrocarbon Impacted Soil (NHIS) Program. The SMSL is a fully permitted and established municipal facility that accepts NHIS as foundation layer material. Foundation layer material is used as a sub-layer for the final cover of the landfill. Use of NHIS is consistent with the requirements included in Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations and has been approved by the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (CCRWQCB) (Order No. 01-041). NHIS material includes, but is not limited to, soils from oil field sumps, tank farms, pipeline leaks, or petroleum product spills. The approved criteria for NHIS at the landfill restricts the type of waste and hydrocarbon concentration levels that can be accepted.
