Patty Herman is a Project Manager and National Expert for Mining. She earned both a BS and an MS in Biological Sciences, with an emphasis in aquatic ecology, from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. Her early career focused on endangered species management, recovery, and habitat restoration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She gained experience in coal mining operations as an inspector for surface and underground coal mines, enforcing State and Federal regulations. Since joining SCS in early 2023, she has worked with clients on various projects, including deep well CO2 sequestration, mining permitting, bond release applications, and specialized mining projects. Patty is currently responsible for management of 7 projects and provides technical support for mining related projects in the Upper Midwest.
